BUYING AT AUCTION
-
Commission and Charges
We have a very low premium compared to other similar auctions. Please help us to keep it this way by telling your friends all about us and sharing links from our social media pages.
Antiques & Chic charges a buyer’s premium of only 15% of the hammer price. Buyer’s premium is subject to VAT at 20%. Therefore the final invoice total for bidders will be 18% above the hammer price inclusive of VAT.
An example for a lot purchased at £100 would be as follows:
£100 hammer price. £15.00 buyer’s premium. £3.00 VAT on buyer's premium.
Total amount due: £118.00
Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information including on International purchases.

Estimates
Estimates are designed to help buyers gauge what sort of sum might be involved for the purchase of a particular lot. Estimates may change and should not be thought of as the sale price. Estimates do not include the buyer’s premium or VAT (where chargeable).
-
Starting Price
The starting price is the minimum the first bid can be on a particular item. Note however that the starting price may not be the reserve price. Where the reserve price is higher than the starting price, the item will not be sold unless is reaches at least the reserve price.
-
Reserves
Vendors will have the right to place a reserve price on any or all of their submitted items to Antiques & Chic auctions. Reserve prices however will not be disclosed to bidders. Antiques & Chic may start items at below its reserve price as deemed appropriate for the individual lot.
-
Bidding and Increments
All bidding shall take place using pre-set increments:
£0 - £500 = increments of £10 or at times £5 - this will be visible when you bid
£500 - £1000 = increments of £20
£1000+ = increments of £50
During the auction each lot will close individually. If an items receives a bid in the last 5 minutes of the auction, the lot end time will extend by 2 minutes. This prevents people from “sniping” and item and gives everyone an equal chance at buying the lot. Please remember to refresh your computer on your bidder page to have the exact times an item ends. Bids are not retractable.
