The Calligraphy: The kanji written on the lid of the wooden storage box reads 「七宝焼」 (Shippo-yaki).
The Name: "Shippo" literally translates to "Seven Treasures". It references Buddhist scriptures describing seven sacred, precious gems (such as gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and agate). The craft was named this because the vibrant, glassy finish resembles the glow of multi-colored jewels.
